About Us
This website has been developed as part of the
Loddon Mallee Breast Services Enhancement
Program (BSEP) project.
The Loddon Mallee region is located in the northwest
corner of Victoria, Australia and covers a geographic area of 58,965
square kilometres, or approximately 26% of the State, making it
the largest of the nine Department of Human Services (DHS) Regions
in terms of geographic area.
The
Loddon Mallee BSEP team obtained funding for the development of
this website through the Victorian Strengthening
Support for Women with Breast Cancer Program (SSWBC).
The SSWBC Program is a commonwealth funded initiative
administered through BreastCare
Victoria. Funding is being provided over two years (2001 - 2003)
to improve information provision and supportive care for women with
breast cancer, particularly those living in rural and remote areas.
Victoria nominated to focus on an e-health model for their SSWBC
program, targeting women with breast cancer, their family and friends,
and health care professionals.
The Loddon Mallee BSEP team nominated a range
of initiatives to meet the SSWBC objectives, one of which is this
website.
We would also like to acknowledge the Hume BSEP team for their support
throughout this project. They have led the way with the development
of their Breast
Services Hume Health website.

The Loddon Mallee
Breast Service Enhancement Program (BSEP)
The Loddon Mallee BSEP is one of nine regional projects
set up in 1999 under BreastCare Victoria (BCV) to establish a model
of breast cancer services in line with established best practice.
The model builds upon existing practices within the region, maximising
the quality, accessibility and co-ordination of breast disease services.
We have a steering committee consisting of representatives from
across the region. Representatives include the area clinical coordinators,
a Department of Human Services' project officer, program manager,
project worker, Breast Care Nurse Regional Coordinator, consumer
representatives, clinicians, breast care nurses, other health care
professionals and hospital administration representatives.
One of the Loddon Mallee BSEP's initiatives has been the development of the package "Multidisciplinary
Care Guidelines for Women with Breast Disease". This package
was designed to assist health care professionals in providing coordinated,
multidisciplinary care to women with breast disease. Contents of
the package describe best practice standards in the care of women
with breast disease. Throughout this website, wherever appropriate,
we refer to the package and it can be downloaded to your computer
from the Resources / Guidelines
section of this website.
For further information on this program refer to BSEP.
